Sacred Bond Covenant Theology Explored 9781935369042 Books

There are few books I rank highly when if comes to teaching the depth and truth of Covenant theology; most books assume that the learner knows a lot of details already and so most introductory books are too hard to read and people in the local church give up on learning. However, the authors have given, by far, the best book for introducing yourself and your congregation to genuine Covenant Theology. In an amazing display of depth and yet putting everything on a lower shelf for people to reach and understand, the book guides the reader from the Redemption Covenant (before the creation of the world among the Tri-unity of God) all the way into the New Covenant. The insights and links to all the covenants and the linkage of Covenant grace and the Gospel make this a book that needs to be taught to every adult in your church. My advice would be to make this a course to teach or a sermon series to preach. We live in covenant communion with God and this book explains the covenant of the Godhead for our salvation and the covenant His people have with God in His redeeming work through Christ as His elect remnant.

Both authors are well versed in the Scripture passages from both Old and New Testaments that allow us NOT to see the Old Testament as just Law and the NT as just grace. They take the reader on a journey into both Law and Grace, of the uncircumcised heart and the new heart given to us by the work of Christ. They show us the Redemption Covenant before the world was made and the the words of Christ, "It is finished."

An absolutely solid book on Covenant (Reformed Theology) and how God lives and works with us in Covenant grace. Truly a book for your adults to study along side some of the great historic creeds that allow people to see how Creeds demonstrate and "sing" the wonders of Covenant Theology. As pastors, the authors show how your congregation will gain more from the Gospel message when they learn how it links to the Covenant with Abraham and with other Covenants. Truly a great book!

A great introduction to Covenant Theology, as I walk closer and closer to it. Very easy and simple read. The chapter on the Abrahamic Covenant was the most helpful.
This book was recommended by a pastor I look up to as a good intro to covenant theology. Simple, defines terms, clarifies differing opinions and gives further reading recommendations. Might be my #1 recommendation for introductions to ct.
A sound introduction to Reformed Covenant theology that is accessible to a lay audience and saturated in scriptural references that make clear what lies at the heart of each covenant described in Scripture. Highly recommend it for group study and personal reflection!
I really appreciated this book because it gave me a great foundation on Covenant theology. The book doesn't deal with the controversial aspects of the system aside from a couple of points on infant baptism. Therefore, I would have liked more written on those topics, but, overall I think this is a really good book.
This was by far one of the best books of a theological doctrine I have read so far. The author took a complex doctrine, and breaks it down for everyone to understand. The flow is great and catches your attention by bringing excitement of the truth you are reading. The author does a great job in showing us what the covenants are, where we see it in scripture, and how it affects us today with amazing encouragement. I highly recommend this book
A few years ago I began exploring Reformed theology after growing up in a Pentecostal denomination. After I started attending a PCA church I started hearing more about covenant theology. It was at first confusing but this book helped shed light on the matter. I greatly enjoyed reading this, and it is excellent introductory look at covenant theology and how a clear exegesis of Scripture will lead to such an understanding.

Thank you to the authors for their work!
Written for those of us who did not grow up in Covenant Theology, but have found our way there, this book is a very helpful overview of the Biblical Covenants. Coming from a Dispensational background, I found the chapter on the Davidic covenant to be the most helpful. After the introduction which defines covenants and Covenant Theology, each chapter then explains a particular covenant, gives Biblical support for it, reviews what Reformed Theology teaches about the covenant, explains why the covenant is important to Christian life, and ends with questions for review. If you are new to Covenant Theology, this book is a great starting point.
